Dh1.5 Billion Project is on Track for Completion in June 2016

Dubai Festival City Mall will become the most desired waterfront destination for residents and tourists by the second quarter of 2016 upon the completion of a Dh1.5 billion expansion project. 75 percent of the expansion had already completed and work is in full motion to complete the development by June next year as scheduled.


20 percent more area will be added to the existing 2.4 million sq ft mall and increase the stores to 420, Merchant told Khaleej Times during a media briefing on Monday. Key features of expansion are 300 meter long waterfront deck will occupy more than 20 Creek side restaurants on its completion by beginning of next year. An open air 50,000 sq ft platform will be set up in the next two months on reclaimed land from the Marina.

Dubai Festival City Mall receives two million visitors annually due to its vital location at the historic Dubai Creek area at Dubai Festival City covers area of 5.2 million sq meters. It hosts a lot of unique-to-Dubai brands such as Ferrari store, Ikea’s flagship store and the iconic Hard Rock Cafe.

Merchant said the indoor food court is also undergoing a makeover and its capacity will be increased to 2,000 seats.
