Another Landmark Coming in 2017

The emirate’s municipality has declared a project called Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, which will be open in 2017. Designed as a shape of an open book; a huge library is set to be built in Dubai. Settled in Al Jaddaf, close to Dubai Festival City; cover the space of 66,000 square metres, will include internet services, many areas for open reading, stage, cinema, visual and auditory library and a book section. Approx 1 m international devoted books and a book section for visitors and tourists it will also host presentations, documentaries and lectures from around the world.


The library comes alongside UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, devoted 2016 the Year of Reading. UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai,HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has also asked the public to share advice with him on how to make reading a part of the culture, identity and life of our generations.

The project was first confirmed back in July 2013 and now everyone can see glimpse at what the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library will look like. It will be a place even for those who wouldn’t consider themselves bookworms would like to hang out at, with full of sunlight coming through the glass roof and greenery all around.

The library will be 7 storeys of culture that concentrate to give the education and societal needs of Dubai and is due to open in 2017.it’s supposed to draw in tourists and residents alike, using the best technologies, it will be a significant mark on Dubai Tourism map.
Dubai is already a literary centre with the 2016 Emirates Airline Literary Festival right around the corner. The 8th edition of the yearly gathering will be the first and biggest literature and reading orientated event of the Year. Will be Held in March 1-12 at the Dubai International Writers’ Centre and the InterContinental Hotel, it will be the longest literary festival managed in the Middle East with more than 150 authors committed to attend.
